Did mine yesterday. (on the Mio)

Before

After with heat shield fitted (I added an orange stripe while I was at it)

Back on the bike. I sprayed the back wheel as well while I was changing the rear tyre. (Got a Michelin S83 off ebay for £2 Laughing )

That turned out really nice PX. Very Happy I need to get mine painted soon. the finish got scraped up and is starting to rust already. Seeing I just cut off the only scooter repair shop, I'm more dependent on this club and online parts shops than ever! Neutral

Still waiting for a day without 30mph winds to do mine, I live in a flat so no garden or shelter to work in, it's all done on the pavement! (or sidewalk for our colonial cousins Smile )

may put the original back on the vespa if I can get it done well enough as I'm fed up with the noise of the pm pipe

Forgot to mention, I couldn't find BBQ heatproof paint so I used "Woodstove" paint.

I have just stumbled across this thread...and it's something that I am going to try. Only had the scooter 3 months but have noticed a small amount of rust on the exhaust and I don't like it so off to B&Q or Halfords I go!

Is yours a 2stroke? It might get quieter if you repack it. Mine got almost stock-quiet when I finally got the length cut right and repacked mine. I really didn't want to reinstall the 'choker' pipe.

Well I've used Halford spray exhaust paint which helps against corrosion.
I must admit it's done it's job very well! My Honda 250 Spacy has been used althrough the winter with salt on the roads and the rust still hasn't returned.

Note:- I know however the old Honda Spacy exhaust was made of real quality stuff, unlike some of the Chinese offerings which are made of the cheapest tin known to man.... Sad

Aluminium can't rust. Gets dirty and tatty but can't rust as such.
