Having changed the oil on my baotian I noticed that you get some metal flakes in the bottom of the large sump plug.

I'm looking for a small magnet that I can stick in the bottom of the sump plug in order to collect any small metal pieces and stop them from doing any damage to the engine.

Sometimes prevention is better than the cure cheaper too.

You can buy magnetic oil plugs for cars which are the 17mm size. As far as I'm aware on most bikes its a 17mm plug too. So technically you could just slap one of them on there and be ready at your next oil change

Are you serious?

Two and a half thousand kilometers on the oil the Chinese factory put into the bike purely to stop the insides of the engine rusting up on the boat????

Change it NOW. And as to better performance - doubtful, you've FUBAR's your engine through neglect. Expect an expensive rebuild very soon.

Icon_lol5. how do we know he didn't get it second hand? I'm afraid the oil being in that long would do more bad than good. from running it in some metal swarf would be found in your oil, this will cycle round your engine and do alot of damage to your cylinder. change it asap and maybe it will last longer. expect problems though, you're supposed to change it every 1000km. remember to warm your engine up for a few minutes at least in the mornings.

Not on these bikes it's not Sad

If you inspect the gauze mesh you'll see little flakes of metal in it during the first 300 km, after this the majority of ring seating has taken place so there'll be a lot less.

If you see metal flakes in the oil after 2000km or so then that could indicate a problem as all the metal on metal friction should have been eliminated!
