Just to add mine bit about how to check the oil.

When I changed my oil for the first time I put the old stuff into a jug and aprox 670ml came out (my manual says 700ml which is about right) so when I filled it up I put around the same back in.

When I checked the level with the dip stick I had to screw it in to get a reading which was most of the flat bit.

Sorry GP, but your mechanic is out voted in this one.

He's a Piaggio Master Technician, I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Wink

First buy another oil drain plug.
Then use a pipe wrench to get the old one off.
You don't have to put the new plug in that tight since it has an "o" ring seal, just tight enough to insure it wont become loose.

Sorry, but you have to use this plug!!!

First drawn off the oil with the left plug. (Blue arrow, No oil over your hands. Scooter on side stand)
Then you can check the oil filter (yellow arrow)

Either plug will work, and the advice about not over tightening them is great advice.

Yeah it's really important to change engine and gear oil on time. Here's a pretty simple video on youtube showing how to do it for Flyscooters. I'm not sure if other Chinese scooters are built the same, but it's pretty basic and straight forward. Hope this helps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2fSVNYZsSc

I changed my oil today. I got 1 litre of super castrol 4T 10w -40 oil, it cost £8.50 and it said "increases power". when I got home I changed the engine oil(not much came out so I blew down the dipstick hole(hehe that sounds rude) and cranked the fan round with a rachet and got some more out. I filled it up with the lovely red stuff. I also replaced the transmission oil with the oil I got for the engine( I read somwhere on here that you can do that) I will work alright wont it? I think what it claims is true because it's boosted my acceleration and al round performance. I'm happy:)

You should be using 80w90 for the transmision oil as standard 10w40 oil will burn up quicker.

Changed the oil, and stoped pouring after 700 ml on the bottle. It was a bit too much, so I let out some. Could it be that it only holds 650 ml? I let it drain for a few minutes, even turned the engine over a few times.
200km and it was very muddy.

I always fill mine a little above the full mark. It's not going to hurt your engine to have a few extra mm on the dipstick. Wink

I went to the motocross shop today local to me and bought some 5/40w fully synthetic 4t bike oil.
Changed it anyway.

The last stuff I had was red and when I emptied it today it came out black. Laughing
