This is how you can change the belt on the road with your bare hands. You just need a socket to remove the cover. This method works on some 50cc's if the variator is like the one shown.

All I got was "oops, no video". I'm using the Mac right now so I'll try later with the PC.

Anyway, I just removed and replaced the belt on the 50 cc that is on the work bench right now without removing the variator. It's tight but can be done.

I don't think so, it was hard enough to get it back on with the variator off!

If you watch the vid again, you'll see that the variator is different than a 139Qmb variator. The starter gear is on the inside just like my Vento zip clone. That allows the belt to slip over the variator after you put slack in it by separating the clutch pulleys. I did it on my 2 stroke scoot and it works. No bull.

Here's a pic of my 2 stroke with a similar set-up:

In general, sounds like it works is the starter gear is on the inside of the variator. Hope mine is that way.

I would have never thought of that. He pushed the belt all the way against the shaft on the back to give enough slack to get it off/on the front. A real timesaver! I would have been too lazy to change my belt unless it broke, but after seeing that vid, I would be willing to replace a worn belt before it breaks.

dont feel too badly. Here is another story. Sears gas dryers use a long belt to turn the drum. For years techs charges 1.5 hrs to disassemble the drum assembly to replace a belt. One day, an amateur (old woman actually ) who had no money to call maintenance man, had to replace the belt. She said she just squeezed the belt, which is about three feet long, from the front door of the dryer, into a the small space from the front of the dryer. Presto, 5 minutes, new belt.
I did it myself on my dryer after hearing about it. It worked. Sometimes, we think about S**t too much,

Is this one of those Criss Angel type changes?

Come on! Doesn't anybody respect an impact wrench anymore? Toil? Sweat? Fear? Insecurities?

What's this scooter world coming to?

Not wanting a date with this Angel, I remain,

I gotta do mine soon. I'm over 10k! I was wanting to get the open air CVT cover at the same time, but thanks to employers closing down left n right... Evil or Very Mad
Sometimes I think that's the criteria for staying open... Is that guy on the scooter qualified to do this? Yes?? Shut it down! Cash out, and shut down NOW!!! Evil or Very Mad
Ok... I'm shutting upping now Embarassed

If you lived closer Yellow Scooter I would have you come on over. I am having way too much fun tearing mine apart and watching the peices fly! Still I get them back together and they seem to go just fine! Icon_lol4

With those bolts removed, my scoot seems to be sealed by a glue.

Yeah the covers are hard to get off the first time. I used a rubber hammer to break the seal on mine the first time.
