I sold my 50cc and went with a 150cc. I much prefer the 150cc.
Pros:
The 150cc goes faster - up to 63 for me.
I can get up and go faster from a stop sign.
Much more power on hills and windy days.
No more fear of being run over in a 45 mph lane going only 20 mph against a hard wind
Cons:
Use a little more gas than my 50cc did.
Insurance is $10.00 more for the year.

It might be my imagination, but it seems to me that 125 parts are fewer and farther between than the 150 parts.
I have done a lot of searches, and I have found that most parts suppliers cater to the 50cc and 150cc crowd. Not too much 125cc stuff being pushed.
Someone tell me if I wrong?

| ROBIN you must remember that your just along the motorway from me, you can only go on a 125 with your CBT and no higher (by law). Yes it is beter with the 125 it`s easier on the engine and will take your stature no probs.

In the European Union there are about three classes of driver's licenses that affect two wheeled vehicles, so that may affect the parts situation here. The most limited is the 'M' which is up to 50cc, and then the 'A1' which is up to 125cc. The 'A' license covers all larger classes. The 'M' class is included in the normal 'B' license required to drive a car, so there are a lot of 50cc scooters running around. Since a driver's license is VERY expensive to get here, and the 'A1' and 'A' license cost almost the same to get, there does not seem to be much incentive to go for a new 'A1' license that is limited to 125cc unless the rider is too young to qualify for the 'A' license? Maybe that is another reason that there does not seem to be as large a supply of 125cc parts?

almost correct, bit its a bit more complex than that in the UK.
there are 2 camps, under 21 and over 21.
under 21 you can get a CBT to get your provisional, you are then restriced to a 125cc with XKw of power until you are 21, if you do a CBT/test on anything LESS that a 125 you will ALWAYS be restriced to a 125cc motorcycle.
If you are over 21 you can do the same as above, but after your test you are still restriced to a 125cc for 2 years after that you can ride anything.
if you are over 2 there is also the Direct Access with which it costs more ofr CBT, lessons and Test, but these are all done on a larger engined bike, typically around 600cc, but once the test is done there are no restrictions whatsoever.
Oh and if you passed your car licence before 2000 (IIRC) then you automatically have the Moped entitlement, if its after this time you have to do a CBT to validate the moped section.
You can ride a moped at 16 with a provisional/CBT and "L"s
told you it was complex.
oh and its the usual if you do your CBT on an auto your test and licence will only be auto, if its a manual, then you can ride either.

I know you are after a 125cc bike/scooter but on to the licence park seeing asyour tuning 17 have you not considered getting your A2 restricted licence it means you are restricted to 33bhp and then you ae able to get a larger bike which will suit your height but it has to be restricted for 2 years then after you can ride anything you want it costs a bit more than a cbt.....£250 for 2 days but might be something to consider.
