How does the fuel get from the tank on a Jinlun125T-10 - ?

Hi Guys,
My poor scoot is in the workshop as I could not get it started, however the guys that are sorting this out for me are having a few probs as this is their 1st chinese scooter.

The issue seems to be the fuel not pumping round to start the engine, however they did a by pass and the petrol was pumping out ok manually and scoot started no probs, but when they attach all parts back no fuel is being pumped around and scoot won't start.

The confusion for these guys is they have no idea how the fuel should be pumped around as usually this is electrical but on this scoot there is nothing, and they can't understand, if the petrol tank is below, the fuel needs to be pumped upwards, but how does this scoot do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a pic of a 150cc scoot. The fuel pump works off of the engine vacuum somehow drawing the fuel up from the gas tank. Not sure if your is like this, but I thought it might help. Icon_dunno

Thanks guys I have given the workshop the picture and hope they can resolve. Any reason why this fuel pump should not work ie air getting in to stop the vacuum .

Any scenarios ir advice will be greatly appreciated as it has been already.

I got that picture from another forum thread where a guy had trouble with his scooter dying. He made some kind of make-shift fuel tank with a hose that he would hook to the fuel pump inlet to prime the pump. Once it was primed, he would re attach the fuel line from the tank and he said it would run all day no problem. The next day he would have to repeat the process after the scoot sat all night, so it boiled down to either a bad pump, or a vacuum leak. He was told to replace all the vacuum lines first since they are cheap, and that's where the thread ends. He never posted back after that.

So, I would suggest you do the same. Replace all the vacuum and fuel lines first, then if still no joy, then go for a new pump.

My old SYM had a pump like that. The "tank in the floorboards" style is pretty common so you shouldnt have problems with spares.

Seems so much easier to have the tank up in the back.

The pump is just one more part that can fail.
