My speedometer cable broke at 484 km. I had bought the wrong one for a previous scooter and made it work on this one. Are you suppose to lubricate the cable? I imagine you could disconnect it at the dash and squirt some oil into it but are you suppose to? and what kind of oil?
Since I changed it there is a little buzz at certain times that's maybe a plastic panel, but I thought that it could be the speedometer cable needing lubrication and could my first one broke because I never oiled it? _________________ 1986 Honda Spree (sold)

You are not supposed to use oil on a speedo cable. Fox is right, use grease, oil will work its way up the windings on the inner cable and get into the delicate moving parts of the speedo itself and damage it. _________________
