A pic of your bike would help. _________________

You may have to get some checker plate and cut out your own plates. A bloke in my club has just had to make some for his Vespa ET4 and that's a really popular bike, but he couldn't get any. _________________

There's a thread on here where someone made their own metal floorboard - I think it had a how-to with it... look around. _________________ 2007 Sukida SK50QT-9 Roma (Oct 2007 - Present)

Tin snips or shears won't work on anything over 1/16" thick or 16 ga. and even that depends on what kind of metal you're cutting. The diamond plate you're thinking of is a probably a minimum of 1/8" thickness, but have seen most in 1/4". Most are aluminum and can be cut with a band saw. A handheld jigsaw with the proper blade will work in a pinch. A drill motor with a drum sander mounted to it will help smooth out the rough edges.
These hand power tools are pretty common and most DIYers usually have both. Maybe you can borrow from a friend?
I'd loan you mine, but the shipping from Hawai'I will probably be high enough that it'd be cheaper to buy your own. |
