Well I have been checking this out and found out this
to make a foot plate use plastic reproduction aluminium which can be bought on ebay. You can get a sheet then use some cardboard to make a template of the area and cut it to size, place this on top of the sheet and cut round it to get the right size, can be cut with scissors then get the battery cover and place this on top of the sheet and mark round it to cut out. Now you can get into the battery easily without having to remove the plate. Then to make it blend in just put a piece onto the cover to make it blend in. Can be glued down into place. Can also be bought from Halfords too.
