for a while now I have had starting problems with my scoot.
changed plug, lead is good, drained carb, removed+cleaned it several times and all's well (no damaged parts that I can tell).
the most recent installment of hassle is that when it starts (it needs precise feathering of throttle to achieve this) the bike will need rev's to keep it going and on the road for the first 5-10 mins will be quite sluggish and not as "zippy" as it has been in the past. on the open road (dual carrigeway to work) my 125cc will get upto 55-60mph and run great. it will idle well and start again no problem. leave it during work and the same starting + sluggishness is guaranteed.
any idea's? |

Valve clearance settings, Dirty clogged air filter, faulty auto-choke.
Try a valve adjust:

Mine did that for over a year. I just learned to live with it after replacing the entire fuel system, 3carbs, and messing with the valves countless times. They are all perfect or as close as they will ever come. I don't know too much about GY6 vacuum other than these motors don't make enough. Mine has a somwhat inability to produce any surplus vacuum, so I had to convert my fuel pump (underfloor tank) to an electric from vacuum. It leveled out the fuel flow, but the bogging remained unaffected just as you described only mine was completly at random. Hot warm cold morning noon or night, it did not matter. When that 150cc wanted to act like a sick hi-mile 50cc, by god it did for as long as it liked! With seemingly no cure in sight.
Finally, I bought a straight flow exhaust an 30mm carburetor from a neighbor up the road from my house. The 30mm carb has a diffrent diaphragm setup that doesnt require vacuum connection, like the stockers did, so I was able to totally plug off the vacuum spout on the intake.
After setting the idle and air mix, the year long problem I was cursed with was finally gone! and its run like a raped ape ever since. :D
So for me it was a vacuum deficiency, it may be the same for you it may not be, I don't know if these motors even generate more vacuum after warming up or not, but there's my slug-speed story for what it's worth..
Hope it helps, if not entertains... :P |

I don't know if you know this or not....but there's now a chinese scooter specialist in Dundee, He is on princess street at where the weavers arms used to be. Great guy, Great service and now he has started doing repairs and servicing prices for servicing are only £10 per hour.
Sorry for sounding like an advert but not many scooterists in Dundee even know he exists lol |
