Got my scooter today :D
I was originally going for a Znen tommy 125, but then got offered an SYM dirt cheap, but that fell through as the guy decided to keep it at the last minute and gave me my money back. Still he's a friend so I got no problems with that.
Instead I now have my Brother-in-Laws 2002 Peugeot Trekker 50 (derestricted) for £400, saved me some cash and it's a really nie scooter, acceleration is insane compared to the Powerband 50 I did my CBT on haha.
Only took it for a 10 minute ride this evening, and was happy that I finally could go out and ride :D
Only bugger is figuring out how to keep the L plate on the back, it's held on by sellotape at the moment! |

I fabricated a piece of galvanised steel that bolts onto the numberplate mounts, with the plate on top.
it sticks out below the plate and gives me somewhere flat and square to stick the L plate onto.
only took a few mins, give it a try! :wink: |

I got a regular sticky L plate and ran it through a laminator a few times so it becomes a bit more rigid yet flexible because my cover kept snapping the plastic ones off, and I had no where to attatch it on.
There's several inces of free space on the plastic paper so I stick it on the plastic bit behind my number plate and jobs a good 'un.
Probably flops about in the wind but it works. |

| I've got a sticky L-plate on my front fender, and a rigid one cable tied to the top-box rack... the only way I could get one on the back... |

I know I'm just an outsider looking in here, but couldn't you take another sticky scarlet letter and stick it onto the back of the top box? :D
When my top box got cracked from one of my spills, I took a bumper sticker and put it over the crack, then cut along the seam of the box/lid with a razor so I could open and shut it. Or would that be considered defacing something sacred to the DMV? :? |

No top box =)
I got it on, there were two holes towards the bottom of the rear number plate, so I cable tied a rigid L plate below it. Stayed on through a 30 mile rideabout today. Decided to take it for a ride to get used to how this one handles compared to the one I did my CBT on. MUCH faster acceleration, but the rear brakes are a little softer. Other than that it's almost the same..only faster. |

Finally got to go on a decent ride, went up the new forest via the a35.
Was most impressed at getting this Trekker up to 50mph..but then I had to slow down as I was entering the 40mph zone :D
It's quick to get to 40 but takes about 5 mins to get from 40mph to 50mph (well maybe not 5 mins, just seems like it)
Still, 50mph isn't bad for a derestricted 50cc :D
I'll use this for a while I think, then I'll get meself a nice new scooter, probably some chinese 125...that firenze looks nice, as does the znen tommy 125 :D |
