Haven't ridden my scooter for a few days, and I go to ride it to the store right now and I had left the key on all that time again! I opened up the battery box, and there was acid water all inside there. The negative terminal was covered in acid build-up so I had to pull the battery and get out the baking soda/water/paint brush.
It's charging now....
I'm an idiot sometimes!

I went to put my battery back in and the acid had weakened the lug on the neg wire and it snapped off.

| Do we need to add "put your scooter key on your house key's ring" in the quickie tips thread? I'm glad I don't have one of those attached garages where you can leave the inner kitchen door unlocked. |

Well I fixed the lug on the neg lead. Acid had worked it's way up the wire about 1/4 inch. I cut it off and put a new lug on there and now it starts better and it even runs better. It was a blessing in disguise. A sheep in wolf's clothing.
I recommend to all to check your battery terminals for acid build-up. Clean it off with a wire brush and then put some baking soda and water mixture to neutralize it. And replace the lugs if they look corroded. moped_smilie :icon_icon-scoot: |

| last time I put my key on the house key ring, someone locked the door with it and left it in the lock so I was looking everywhere for it and found it hanging in the door  I got so annoyed I ripped the plastic original key off and got an all metal one cut. |

It took me awhile, but I got into the habit of leaving the kill switch in the on position, and just killing the motor thru the keyswitch.
Otherwise I would have about a dozen or 2 kills, stamped up & down the front fenders, like fighter pilots have their kills stamped on their planes. Only mine would be stamps of batteries.... :P |
