Hi,

I don't know if you've seen this before, but I just came across this series of videos from ScooterTronics while browsing Youtube and looking for 139QMB related videos.

It's a series of 4 videos where they upgrade a Chinese 50cc 4-stroke scooter, by adding a big-bore kit, free-flow filter, exhaust, variator, rollers, clutch, kevlar belt etc. They start by showing how to remove the engine assembly from the bike.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65Vv8f_VlLg
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODviEpJ2qm0
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzy-sMiiSOU
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAN4SHjJap0

It's a must-see for anyone who is doing upgrades to his scooter

...so all you really need is a skinny bird with an upturned nose and no idea what she's doing, £5000 worth of snap-on tools and some bloke in a boiler suit with a fantastic moustache?

seems easy... and probably better viewing material than big brother

nice find btw

Would be a good video if they would eliminate that lousy music.

that was great except for the music and could hardly hear what he was saying most of the time.

Is that the 82cc 51mm cylinder kit he is putting in?

Good videos but that constant friggin drum beat about drove me nuts!!!

Can't imagine why they would do that.

Let's see .... spend about $550 + for the kit(s) ... plus 2 days of your valuable time to get an extra 30cc and "better performance" hmm

Silly question, Why not just get a new 150cc scoot and duel it out on the streets?
For the small difference in cost a 150 (even used) will be a better overall performer than most 49cc rides with mods.

Oh wait ... tis "the coolness factor" e.g. bragging rights of having the fastest lil hot rod in town.

150 to a 200cc kit oh yeah!

200 to a 260cc VOG outstanding!

250 to a 500cc Kymco Touring .... now we're haulin' & stylin'

No worries ... watch the vids, have some fun ... its all good.

Why? the answer is easy. ;)
Some areas (in the US, especially) offer exemptions for 50cc scooters. They do not have to be tagged, taxed, or insured. All is needed is 16yrs under your belt, a DOT legal helmet, and about $3 for a tank of gas. Ohyeah, and of corse the scooter. :P
Since police rarely patrol the scooter scene, lots of folks will hot rod the hell out of their little bikes in order to get it to be more car-like in it's performance and utility, without coughing up the anual dues of that level of transportation. Today, the average amount for a 4cyl base car is $1200/yr, plus cost of gas. Either they're too poor or they are too cheap... 6 one, half-dozen the other....
I, myself, am too poor. So I scoot instead of drive. ;)

Yellow Scooter said it all 8)

Also IMHO, modifying a 50cc scooter so it'll keep a little bit better up with traffic makes it less dangerous to drive.

Also, atleast where I live, the police, DMV or whatever will never verify if the scooter is actually 50cc or not. If it says it's 50cc on the vehicle registration forms, then all is good. You don't need a special license, insurance or anything like that. During the yearly MOT, they *might* see how fast it goes, but then you can use simple tricks as using the throttle limiter screw on the carburetor.

I know that I'm technically breaking the law by doing this but I'm also breaking the law when I'm driving my car and talking in my cell at the same time or when I'm doing 10km over the speed limit. Some laws are just meant to be broken (or atleast bent a little), as long as there's no real harm.

dont you need to modify the airbox and muffler, as well as carb, after putting this large bore kit in? He did not mention that at all.

The music was to nullify the air compressor, pneumatic tools, annoying phone calls and any other background noises. It could have been better but it is a good find.
