Ok so when I ride flat out for over 5 mins I start to loose power.
The speed reduces to 40 (from 55)
If I let it stand for a while its fine again.
What gives? :?:
I only work I've done on the bike was a new free flow air filter.
Do you think I'm running lean an overheating?
If so where in the uk should I buy a new jet from? + what size range?
Thanks. |

Hopefully you increased the main jet size to match the increased air flow?

I'm not from the UK so I can't say where, but the usual advice here is for a #85 main jet for a K&N style air filter. |

Nope, it seemed fine untill I went flat out for long enough.

YIKES!!!!! NO!!!!!!! :oops
Thank for asking!!! I guess that I am too tuned in to my own 50cc machine. #85 is waaaay too small for a 125cc machine. Hopefully someone who is familiar with 125cc machines with a free flow air filter will see your post and give you the right jet size.
SORRY!

You may need a new jet, don't know, but it would be unusual for a jet size to cause a loss in power after riding for a bit. The jet performance should be the same starting out. However, if you depart before the engine is warmed up and the enrichment circuit is open and then closes 5 minutes later then it would indicate you are running too lean.
If the above is not the case, then I would suspect the valves a set tight and once the engine gets good and warm, you lose performance.
Try here for a jet :

Thanks Joe.
Unfortunaty I still dont know what size for a 125cc.
Is there not anyone here who has a freeflow who has rejeted?
I just need the best size. #115? #120? #130?
I'm sure I must be lean at the moment but I dont want to be rich either! :? |

| You know after all this time not one person has mentioned looking at the spark plug. You should put the stock air filter back on and buy 2 or 3 jets then start experimenting doing plug reads all along the process. |

My guess is, it's running a lean mix as it's getting more air but no more fuel, a lean mix burns hotter so your engine is getting too warm and losing power.
As all the others said, go get some main jets. Find out what your stock jet is, and go get one #5 and #10 sizes bigger. |

| When I put a free flow cone filter on my 125cc scoot I installed a 120 jet. |

Thanks guys!!! :D
I think I'll get a #120 and see what happens.
I'll let you know the result.
Also I'll change the plug to a nice new one. It cant hurt.
Thanks again guys. |

Hi guys!
Well I popped in my 120# jet today.
I must admit I was worried when I had the carb out. I had a feelling of 'am I ever gonna get this back togeather again'. :?
Performance is fine most of the time unless I yank on the throttle hard then it bogs down a bit.
I'll try a 115#, I think that will be the sweet spot.
While I was there I changed the park plug to a nice one.
Thanks for all the info guys. |
