| Tue Jul 15, 2008 10:27 pm Roma - indicators not working |
|
|
Had my new Roma delivered today and am loving it.
The only problem is that the indicators will not work with the indicator switch, although they do flash with the alarm.
Taking the scooter back to the dealer would require using a van again, so I am keen to try and fix myself.
I have undone the two screws holding the switch onto the bike, but cant really see much inside.
Any ideas where I should be looking first? The rest of the electrics such as horn & lights all work fine. |

The flasher relay plug connector may be loose.
The relay looks like this:

| My 150cc touring scooter I bought last Fall had a defective turn signal flasher right out of the crate. The company sent me a new one and that fixed my problem. |

Had exactly the same problem with my Roma. Like Fox said, make sure all the connections to the flasher relay are tight, and if that still doesn't work, you will need to get a replacement. Not expensive, and you can do it yourself :)
To get to it, you need to get into the plastics on the front of the bike. Undo the screws on the sides of the steering column on the inside, then the headlight section should 'snap' off (I say snap, as they're hooked on with little bits of plastic - try not to break them!), and the same with the section underneath. This gives you plenty of access. Whilst you're at it, change the oil, get a CR7HIX NGK iridium plug, and you're good to go!
Welcome to the Roma club. |

| Wed Jul 16, 2008 7:13 pm Ok, it is definetely the flasher |
|
|
Took off front panels today to investigate - everything seem fine and the flasher was securely wired - then I noticed.... when the flasher was hit, the lights came on for a second.
Therefore, I think the flasher is broken.
Will drive to dealer tomorrow and ask for a replacement.
Also bought an NGK Iridium spark plug today (£8.99 - Halfords), will fit tomorrow when I get some new oil too... actually thats another question - WHAT GRADE ENGINE OIL is required?
* Managed 100 km in 2 days - loving it. |

10w40 is okay for engine oil... most people swear by Mineral oil for the first 300km (helps some engine rings set in or something), and 80w90 synthetic for the transmission.
May you have many miles on your Roma :) |
