|
|
I have a Xingyue Vogue 3 wheeler and the flashers have suddenly stopped flashing. They ones stay on, in the slected direction. Hazards dont work at all.
I've had a look round and taken panels off. First I found the side repeaters no conncetd, that was easy to hook up. Then I found a loose 6 way plug on a loom. 3 of the wire colours are the same as the indicators. Green Pink and Blue.
Could I have just "lost" the flasher relay?
Does anyone have any idea where it would be? (should be?)
The plug is in the dash, hanging below the main instrument panel.
I cant find a socket for it in the instrument panel, but only realy tried by feel.. |

You need to post a pic of your scoot, or at least a link to a pic of one just like it.
On most scoots, the flasher relay is under the front panel behind the head lamp. It looks like a film canister. Black, cylindrical...

For what it's worth, mine was made of tan plastic, not black like Fox's.
Here, I pulled it out of its retainer ring and it's dangling onto the red plastic, so I could look at the wire colors in the nearby harness. |

Many thanks for the reply. I'm working away and have a terrible internet connection.
A picture of the scooter is at http://www.bikeweb.com/node/1332
I have pics of the cable I found but for some reason can't upload them from here.
6 ways on the plug are wired which isn't anything like the 2 wire device you show. So it could well be a red herring.
It makes more sense that as my indicators do come on, but don't flash, I should look for a 2 wire device that "breaks" the circuit to flash the bulbs.

If the six pin plug has coloures G,R,W,B,O and Bl, its not used on this bike and is not anything to do with the problem.
The flasher unit is a black matchbox sized unit on the left hand side of the front panel, two inches from the left hand mirror/indicator connector.
You probably pulled the connector off the switch when you connected the indicator plug. |

Many thanks HB. I'll have a look as soon as I can.
The flashers worked for a couple of weeks after build, so I guess if I did pull it, then I must have pulled it nearly off, and it has come all the way with riding.
Cheers anyway, thats certainly saved me investigating the multi plug. |

You are absolutely right. Its a rectangular type, disconnect and the lamps go off. Its an electronic type and with the lamps on, a big component inside gets hot (looks like a power transistor).
I may have inadvertently overloaded it what do you think:-
Its marked as a 10W device as opposed to a 21W one.
When the bike arived, indicators at the front and rear worked. The working ones at the rear are in the "body" section of the machine. But also attached were 2 indicators at the back lower down on stalks. These didnt work, till I traced the wires and found plugs and sockets disconnected. This now meant I had 3 10W bulbs connected each side. It worked for a week and went pop.
I've since found side repeaters at the front and connected those too.
So now I've ordered a 21W flasher relay, electronic type. Hopefully that will handle all 4 indicators and still flash at the right rate 'because its electronic?? |

All sorted now
Thanks for your help.
New 21W flasher is installed and working fine. Hazzards work as well. |
