Well my bike fell over and suffered a broken clutch lever so I JB Welded it yesterday. Today I brush past it and it came off again, does this stuff take a year to set or what?

I had a bracket thing come off my frame that I JB Welded and that didn't work either.

The only think it's done is stop a nail from coming out of my wall, but I bet that will give if I pull at it.

It works OK for some things. I repaired a leaking gas tank and a leaking radiator on a mazda rx-7 with the stuff. Saved me hundreds of dollars and the repairs lasted till I sold the car anyway. But for something like a clutch lever...no matter how good the application I think it would eventually break again. When you use the stuff the surface needs to be very clean and you need to rough up the surface with sand paper first.

Sand papered and trying again. Going to leave it all weekend and see what happens.

I love JB Weld! It doesn't work for everything, mind you, but I use it a lot

Although quite expensive, Belzona would do the trick on a clutch lever.
It's just like JB Weld but really strong - industrial strength. You need a carbide or diamond grinding wheel to smooth it out after it sets.

it wont fix a lever, as the surface area isnt big enough, jb weld sets rock hard and is largely effective, ive found that its not so good at actually bonding things too well when it comes to certain things

He is right-this step is critical to it bonding correctly. :)

Something about the chinese alloys they use doesn't do well with the likes of JB weld. It just doesn't bond to scooter metal like it does on say, a water jacket crack on a GM 3.8L V6 My X-wife had, and drove like that another 45k miles. :P

heard of a jt weld

he is an 80 year old engineer and welded my mates crankshaft

it ran for another 10,000 miles after

also got a sheared bolt out of the baotian with a small screw driver and a pin hammer

and built his own kit car with out a kit

also welded angel iron into my mates bumper (same mate who had welded crankshaft)

he got hit by a bmw and it wrote it off

but it chipped his paint work

looks like a citreon traction advance x with a 1920s gangster car

Things I have fixed with JB Weld:

BOTH side mirrors on my geo tracker
In well water pump
small crack in an old ford radiator
carburetor in said ford
shock mount on my yamaha 125

Things that JB will not fix:
things with small surface area and/or under levers under constant use
anything really hot

If I were you, I'd give the JB one more shot after properly prepping the spot, and if that fails run four small machine screws (two in each half of the cluch lever) and connect them with a small piece of flat bar or something. That will get you through if you need to.
