Newbie here, Just purchased a Chuanl LB150T-12 out of the newspaper. When I went to the DMV to purchase my tag, I was told I would have to have a title. The guy who sold it to me didint give me a title instead a bill of sale and a certificate of origin. The scooter only has 10 miles on it so I consider it new. My question is the scooter hot? If not, how do I get a title. Better yet is there a title since it came from China. I purchased the scooter to save gas for work, and now until I get a title and tag I can not ride it here in Alabama.

Take the BOS and COO to the title bureau. They should keep that and give you a new title. Also take your original SS card & drivers license.
Did the same here in OHio. You don't get a title from China only the COO.

Thank you, I will try that. I am sure for another small fee. :(

Those fees won't be all that small.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
there is supposed to be a label near handlebars on all imported motorcycles and scooters--I found epa labels under seat, but no luck on the nhtsa :x

My Chinke scoot didn't have that number on it and I was able to title it. Apparently Ohio looks up on the net for that info. All they wanted was the DOT and EPA certs which they got from the net.

I handed the clerk the mso and bill of sale and they gave me tags, registration, and printed out an instant title. I was shocked actually. Cost me $116.

Tag office told me all I need is Certificate of Origin with dealer name and address on front and Dealer number on back, police inspection form, tax payed at revenue office, and valid insurance. I have everthing but the certif. of origin with the original importers info on it. I purchased the bike still in crate and actually assembled it myself(easy). I have still not heard back from
the importer about the cert. --Tag office told me I could hand write on the certificate of origin the company name and info, and write in dealer number on back. 2 weeks, I still have not heard from importer. Thinking of calling some friends in the car business and using their dealer number.....

And, did you get it from ATVdiscounters? They are notorious for being slow with the paperwork.
