Hi-bird cub 125 with clutch and rear disk brake...never see anything like this where I live. I think it's cool.

Unless your in good with a local mom & pop cycle shop, I think the only place you'll see them is on ebay. Least thats the only place I seen them...

I purchased this HiBird 125cc "Cub" scooter off ebay, last year, for $899.00. I don't think it is even worth what I paid. The assembly, out of the crate, took two days, with a couple of emails/calls, to their "tech support". It is a clutchless 5 speed heel/toe shift. I don't care for it, and will probably be getting rid of it. Even with the rpm's cut way down, the shifting is jerky. From neutral to 1st, if the hand break isn't tightly squeezed, the bike will take off. I went over the entire bike, making sure all of the bolts are tight, but the engine vibration is horrible, like sitting in one of those massage chairs.
I must admit, it is quick, and would be great as a teenagers pit bike, but is not comfortable, as a daily commuter, or joy riding. I've been around chinese scooters for the last six years, and the HiBird bikes are the epitome of the worst quality of chinese scooters.

Thanks for the unbiased review Greasemonkey. Usually bike owners tend to exaggerate how great there bike is. Clearly this is not the case.

The cub they have now though does have a hand clutch and rear disk brake. But if you say vibration, build quality, and assembly is bad, then I would say its the same on this one.

Looked like a cheap geared bike for learning to shift gears on, but I will save up my money and get something better.

The worst part of it, even beyond the quality issue, was the way it arrived in the box, with absolutely no assembly instructions, of any kind.
All of the nuts, bolts, washers, spacers, springs, etc., were all laying in the bottom of the crate, not even in a bag. It was only because I know my way around motorsport machines, that I was able to assemble the thing. I still have a couple "spacer"-like parts, in a plastic bag, under the seat. It was promoted as "minor assembly required". Indeed. If this bike would have been sent to a novice, who only thought they were going to put on the front wheel, they would have crapped in their pants.
Of course, the owners manual was in "Chin-lish", and all engine descriptions pertained to the model with the manual clutch tranny, and not the semi-automatic. There wasn't even a decent picture, to refer to while assembling it. I had to go by the ebay pictures. I think a container with these bikes, fell off a ship, got washed ashore in the northwest USA, was found, and the contents put on ebay.
