urgghhh must be the 5th time iv had a problem with my moped now, I put in the new battery, neg first then postive. Try to start it up and instead of the normal starting noise, I could hear a whirring that seemed to be coming from the crankshaft. Me or my dad don't have a clue what it could be.

look at the fan when you crank it, then you'll see if the starter mechanism is working properly. maybe the battery needs a charge? if theres not enough umph behine the starter motor, the mechanism wont bite and will spin round making a wirring noise.

.....also at the risk of stating the obvious check the battery connections are tight/making good contact.

I checked they are connected properly and it was definately charged when I put it in. Will it work if I leave the crankcase off?

ye just hold a 10 mm socket on the end of the starter mechanism to guide it. when the engine's running hold the mechanism in so so doesnt vibrate out into the variator.

ok, I found out it was a fuse, replaced it and made normal starting noise but wouldnt start, dad has checked everysingle part of the carb and not a problem there, I myself don't have any clue what it could be anymore.

OK, give us some help. Can you confirm if there is spark at the plug or not? If you get a spark then the problem is most likely fuel related but if no spark then the problem is electrical.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sh*t I took out the start relay to have a look at it and I cant get it back together because the little magnet things on the springs wont stay in so I cant put it back together. if you get me?

Oops not too sure why you are looking at the start relay if you are getting a strong spark which as you say indicates its a fuel problem but hope you get it sorted mate.

It sounds like you took the starter MOTOR apart. Not a good idea. They can be a little tricky to put back together and if you don't get the alignment just right, it may run backwards. You may end up getting a new one.

It sounds like you have a fuel problem anyway, not electrical.

Back to getting the carb apart and cleaned.
