I'm going on my 2nd week of chronic insommnia now and it really sucks! I wish I could shut my brain off with a switch and go to sleep. It's almost midnight and I'm wide awake like I just woke up but I worked all day! I got K-fuk radio playing non-sense in my head 24/7. ARRRRRGGGHHH!

I have some pills I got at the drug store, but they leave me feeling woozy and I can't think right in the morning so I stopped taking them.

I can sympathize with you on that, Fox! I sometimes have the same problem. I hope it gets better for you!

Hey Fox,

No insomnia is more difficult to accept and remedy as your own brand. Insomnia is a bitch mostly when you have bearing down on you people, places and things that depend on you. This thought alone seems to worsen the condition. I’m hoping for your sake that this string will expand with suggested remedies, then perhaps you can pick from these the ones that sound effective. But, I would stay away from bare ass chanting on snow filled mountains!

Let me start this off by describing what works for me, sometimes: At the moment of the occurrence, I don’t fight it. I get up, wash up and commence doing anything to get my mind off the consequences of not being able to sleep. Secondly, if I pop anything, the most it’ll be is MelatoninPlus, a dietary supplement. Lastly, instead of reading my mind, I read my body. After the Melatonin, you can sense when the body is ready again for bed.

Generally watching your food and drink intake after six pm is a good idea as well.

By the way, I do mean to frighten…it is totally possible to fall asleep while scooting. This nasty thought alone could be my motivator.

Good luck,

Ager

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I finally fell asleep/passed out about 2am after drinking a ton of gin....

Now my head feels like it's going to explode. :hammer:

Wow. I been there and done that man. Insomnia really sucks goats ass! :(
It never fails! Ya never get sleepy, till about 30min before time to go to work!
Although I wouldn't recommend anyone abuse a substance, After 2weeks of not sleeping past 1hr/night (on a good night!) I got desperate enough to pop a zannex-1.0 at about 7pm. By 8pm, I was out for the count till 2:30 the next afternoon.
It bulldozed the insomnia good, but I was too scared I was gonna be hooked on yet another substance, so I hadn't done it again. Now, I just get up make my bed and watch infomercials about miracle cleaners, or go out scootin.
Not much sense staying in bed if you can't sleep.

I know that feeling too.

A ton is a whole lot. :o

100 milliliters of 80 proof will usually get me to sleep with no hangover in the morning, but I have pretty low alcohol tolerance since I never drink except to fight insomnia. I also add 3mg of Melatonin to the alcohol slug. My doctor prescribed Ambien for me, but it does not seem very effective to me.

I think I drank about 400-500ml's over a 5 hour stretch. I was good and drunk by 2 O'clock.

I forgot the name of the pills I have. I threw the packet away. They were some over-the-counter brand. They knocked me out, but in the morning you feel drugged and it takes a couple hours to wear off.

I have been under a lot of pressure lately with work and I got a bullshit ticket from an LA County Sheriffs deputy a few weeks ago on my scooter for "driving on the wrong side of the road" on a street with no lane markers that's irking the hell outta me. I looked in the California drivers handbook and there is no mention anywhere in the book of any law regarding un-marked, residential streets. The cop had an attitude like he was the Alpha and Omega of knowledge and I couldn't possibly possess any intelligence whatsoever. I called the Sherrif station and lodged a complaint against the deputy afterward, but it didn't take away the racing thoughts of anger or the revenge fantasies.

Add to that, one of my dogs, Lady, the Rottweiler has a growth inside her upper lip that has cost $700 so far, and the vet still doesn't know for sure what it is. He charged 500 for a biopsy which was negative, and he drained the puss out twice to the tune of $100 each time and it just comes back. We consulted another vet, and he said he want's to get the results of the biopsy test from the first vet before he proceeds.

In the mean time, the dog is outside with a huge lump on her lip that has to hurt a lot. It's been 6 days now and still no word from the vet, so I'm gonna call his ass when I get home from working in a couple of hours and tell him to get off his ass.

You need to spend a little time at the beach to get some stress relief. This time, take your camera. Some others get a little stress relief that way as well.

Hey again Fox,

I know you’re the doyen of reference material, something like the Solomon “Sol” Roth of Soylent Green fame, but in my wannabe state of mind, a Fox groupie in the making if you will, and one for the newbie Gipper, this website has a pretty good article on fatigue and cycling: http://www.ride4ever.org/news/fatigue.php.

Did ya notice the way he kept the thread focused on cycling?

Sorry to hear that, Fox mate. Sometimes getting a "power nap" at lunchtime helps. 5 minutes here and there can help the overall situation. It'll sort itself out though, these things usually do.

Actually the link is OK, it just appears that a period was added after php
If you remove the period the link works OK.

If I have to alter the link to make it work,..... Then it's a bad link!

Thanks for trying though! Good effort! :icon_thumbs_up:
