The circled item is not your carbeuretor. If you roll on the throttle and watch the linkage move in the same picture you provided.....you will note that the piece with the linkage moving is the carb.....not the item you circled in red.

| I realize its not the carb, but if I were to put a 30mm carb on would it work with the part I have circled? |

My idea? Remove the metal bracket thing or bend it out of the way, then you could change out the manifold and carb with no wories. It looks like some wierd emissions settup that is probably nowhere near effective, but required anyway. Not a big problem, just remove the bracket and your good to go.

| Can I ask why you want to upgrade your carb, what are you hoping to achieve by it? The reason I ask is, unless you're going up in engine capacity by 50% or so then you'll be wasting your money. If you've increased capacity, or you're going freeflow with the exhaust and filter, just upjet the stock carb by 10% as it'll only cost you a fiver to buy a new jet. |

| I just figured since I was going to put a higher flow exhaust I would need more air/fuel in, but if upjeting would work that would save alot of time and money. Any suggestions on what jets to start messin with? |

One goes to operate the carb diaphragm. The other goes to operate the fuel petcock/pump.
That circled thingy is weird lookin. At 1st glance, I thought it was the ignition coil, before I saw the little clamp on the hose. I'll side with Aero that its a useless emissions gadget made to look like they tried to comply with the EPA.
I would order more than just one main jet. You'll definatly want to set a day aside and do a test & tune after installing your mods.
Get a 112 115 118 120 125 main jets. If your upgrading the exhaust and going to a K&N cone filter at the same time, get a 36 & 38 slo-jet. Some outlets, like ebay, will offer a package deal, if your ordering an assortment of carb jets ;)
NOTE: (I really hope this is a 125cc or a 150cc we're talking about. I don't recall seeing the engine size in this post. If it's a mere 50cc then all the above numbers are totally useless. The concepts are the same, and you will want a jet assortment, but the jet sizes are all gonna be diffrent!) |
