Well I've finally completed my 1st year of insurance so it's renewal time. I've been quoted £176 for this year which is over twice as cheap as last year which is pretty good but I can't shop around at all! Tried 3 insurance comparison sites and they don't have a plain 'Kinroad'. On every one I can either chose a 'kinroad xintain' or a 'kinroad shmoot', none of them have a 125 on it.

I'll try MCE and carol nash.

Tried bennetts, gocomapre, comparethemarket, and confused. All a waste of time. With Rampdale at the minute.

I'm trying to get insurance for a kinroad xt50-18, and I have the same problem, the only one that I found that lists plain old kinroad is rampdale, and they want £290 off me with a £250 excess.

there's a site called ASKMID that tells you what your bike is listed as from your numberplate, address below.

http://www.askmid.com/

unfortunately the bike isn't in my posession yet, so I can't really use it :(

EDIT** actually I just tried and all it said was 'yes'. so... disregard that.
sorry.

good luck anyway!

I think you will be better off with MCE, they have almost all the Chinky bikes, I was with Rampdale and my new quote with MCE was about £10 a year more, but excess was £150 less - well worth it.

MCE don't have my bike. I don't have an excess on my policy insurance, maybe thats why it's expensive.

When I phoned mce to make a claim they advised me as I was only TPO I didnt have legal cover ( Not good if you have an accident ) And had to fork out another £50 - will be taken from claim money. So £350 for TPO on a 125. :?

I paid extra for legal cover and the ability to get a courtesey bike, was about £320 TPO plus another £40 to change the cover to a new bike. Quite chuffed what a difference 1yrs NCB does.

But I dunno if I'm keeping the bike, the MOT is due very soon and it's goosed. May scrap it as I don't think it's worth repairing.

It's hard to get anything over straight liability for a chinabike over here, because the deductables are more than the cost of a new scoot! Unless you got a maxi at least 400cc, you'd be wasting your money.

I got mine through swinton, when I first went to get insurance I tried Rampdale and got quoted £200 I thought no way, I am 23 after all and that sort of price was stupid, I then phoned swinton and they went through all the details and even got the £50,000 for injuries etc etc for £137 a year and when I phoned my bike was put through there system as another brand and they change it after the quote to your bikes correct make and model.
