I'm so glad my local Piaggio dealer has a private test track to for me to try all these nice new scoots on. :icon_bigok:
The first thing I noticed is it's nowhere near as big as I thought it would be, it doesn't seem a lot longer than a Nexus or Tmax.
When I first sat on it the first thing to annoy me was how far I had to keep my legs apart.
Obviously once riding it it felt heavier than the Nexus but it's not as noticeable as I was expecting. What made me s**t myself was twice before I took it out the dealer shouted "be careful, it's heavy!!!" and then I had to sign an insurance form saying if I crashed I'd pay the £1500 excess so that played on my mind a little.
After a few miles of 30 & 40 mph limits through villages I got onto a dual carriageway where I opened up the throttle. Two words kept coming into my head:
MOTHER FECKER!!!!!!!!
Damn this bitch is as fast as fook! With the Nexus it would easily get to say 90 mph and then things would start to slow down but I got up to xxx mph and I ran out of bottle long before the engine ran out of steam.
So the power is great, it looks good especially the black one that was in the showroom but the downsides for me are having to keep my legs further apart than I like plus the handlebars seem a bit strange - I don't know if it's because I was gripping them too tight out of fear but in a way I was glad to get off to give me arms a rest.
Here's the obligatory pics and a short video:
Another little niggle is I don't think the engine sounds too beefy, it still sounds like a scooter if you know what I mean? You'll hear it in this video (over my funky choonz) but it's not a lot different to the Nexus, just a little deeper:
10 points if you can name both songs and artist! :P
You'll probably think I'm taking the piss now but I quite enjoyed riding my B125 home, it felt more of a laugh than the big & serious GP800. |
