I'll start with the negatives:
1) When bought, the front disc brake was leeking brake fluid. Got it fixeda about 4 months later, not realizing I just needed to tighten a screw.
2) The steering wheel moves forward when braking hard with the front brake. After adjusting, goes fine, but after several kilometers, starts doing that again.
3)The colours. Baotian doesn't offer colours that are nice enough for me, and there wasn't much choice.
4)The tires are horrible. Without ABS I wouldn't of been here right now.
5)The speedo cable broke at 1021 kilometres.
6)Plastics are fragile. I think this applies to every Chinese scooter.
7)Fake grill on the front. Maybe it looks 'powerful' like that, but I don't need that.
8)The rims were not so good-looking.
9)The front shock absorbers are too soft. By that I mean that when I sit down on the scoot, the whole front goes down. I weigh only about 55 kilos.
10)The clutch connects at too low RPM's. This reduces initial acceleration, and makes my bike roll forward on even the lowest RPM's.
Ok now with the pros..
1)A very reliable bike. Comes from the good old GY6.
2)Goes 75kmh on the straight. First, when the engine was new, it went only 55kmh, but gradually the speed got bigger.
3)Nice carb cover.. Covers it from mud.
Overall, Baotian has better quality than some other Chinese brands. My friend's Jmstar is of much better build quality though, except for a few little exceptions. His trunk lock fell off, along with his back brake handle.. Also his spark plug burned, which we replaced with a Torch plug (it's better than some people think). |
