Adjusting the valve clearance ...It seems to be easy... How much time it may take ? ( I got limited access to the tools ) And what to be aware of...It will be my first time...
Few weeks ago I wanted to take a look on my Variator, but soonest I took the cover off kick start mechanism fall apart, I couldn`t put it back together so I`m electric ONLY. I don`t need another mishap so if there is something tricky about it let me know before I destroy my only way of transportation

right, get the seat off first. get an 8mm ratchet and take off the 4 bolts holding the rocker cover on, when you take it off, don't touch the black rubber seal because if you disturb it it's a b!tch to get back in-use petroleum jelly to get it back in if you need to. get a 9mm spanner and loosen the lock nuts, then slide the feeler gauge in between the two surfaces(you'll know where). turn the middle threaded bit in so you can feel some resistance when you slide the feeler gauge, hold the middle bit in place with some pliers when you tighten the locknut to stop it moving. do the same with the other valve and replace the cover and start the engine.
there is a debate over clearances, some say 0.05mm on both and the manual says 0.06mm for the intake(top) and 0.08 for the exhaust.
make sure you do it TDC. |

Well... decided to pay someone else to do that for me ... It seems to be easy if you got time and right tools...
But my next scooter I`ll do by my self :) I promise   |

But my next scooter I`ll do by my self :) I promise   The joy of this site and these scooters is they are easy to work on and there are so many helpful people on here. Before I got involved on here I considered myself to be quite useless on the mechanical front. With the help from the folks on here I now do all sorts of jobs and I tell you it makes you feel very good. |

Lemme guess: You took off the kick lever and the clip from the kicker shaft right?
I did that the first time too with the same result, but I was able to fix it after some time and swearing. :) That's when I learned that the kick lever does not need to come off when removing the cover. |

That freaking spring jumped off almost poking my eye off heh...
I wasn`t able to "crank" it back in to the place so I gave up... right now I`am electric ONLY heh But I took care of my batt since first 5 minutes ( one h before I`ve Paid for my scoot, They sell them with dry batts)
Mine still works and holds charge for over two weeks ( 18 days and it was OK> I`m sure that it will last even 6 mo`s) |
