We had a really good day today, we met up at Smethwick Galton Bridge at 10:30…
… and then made our way through Birmingham. Not without incident however – a bus pulling out caused two of our members to have a minor collision when Justin ran into the back of Bof. Fortunately no-one was injured, Bofs bike suffered a smashed L plate and a broken exhaust mount but poor Justins bike took some damage to the front area, with loose handlebars being the main problem. However, with the help of several of us and a selection of tools we got the front panel off his bike, tightened up the steering pinch bolt with an impact wrench, and all was good.
After the run through Sparkbrook our first stop along the way was the McDonalds just outside of Birmingham on the A34…
… and a very good opportunity to take some bike pictures…
… before heading inside for some food and a coffee…
… while others took care of their other cravings in the car park!
Suitably refreshed, we headed on down the A34 onto the A3400 and stopped off in Henley in Arden for a quick photo opp…
… before climbing back on the saddle and riding though Stratford on Avon, and then onto Wellsbourne where we stopped at The Touchdown Café…
… and all headed in for some more food!
While the girls satisfied their urge for chocolate cake and the guys partook of some of Stratfords finest cholesterol, we watched planes…
Soon it was time to saddle up again, and stop off at the favourite location of any 2-stroke scooter… the petrol station. Kurt.
We then stopped off at a pub near Henley for a swift coke, and more photos…
… and then headed back to Birmingham, stopping off for some scenery…
… before heading back to our starting point, and going our separate ways home.
A huge thank you to Rob and Andy for organising today, sorry Andy couldn’t be there as it was an excellent day. And a huge thank you to Bof for marshalling, and everyone who turned up! |

It seems we were only an hour or so apart, I waited at Mc D's and then rode towards the cafe, where I watched the mechanical birdies play until 1pm-ish, then rode back to Stratford to see if I could see you guys on the way...sadly not :( some really nice photo's, glad it went ok once you'de found your way out of Birmingham...not the easiest place to navigate on a scooter/bus/lorry/tank...tanks are good
Hope Bof's scoot's ok, and Bof himself for that matter :?

Looks like a blast! I don't mean to be a P.I.T.A., but is there any way this post could be downsized a bit?
I really wanted to see all the pics, but with this file size approaching 2GB total, my 10yr old pentium3 with a measly 256MB ran out of suds about middleways. |
