| Sat Mar 01, 2008 10:13 pm How to: Fit an alarm |
|

J€Di wrote: Here's full instructions on how to fit the alarm...
NOTE: Tap means use the scotchlock wire taps, don't cut the main bike wire unless otherwise stated, I.e. the CDi immobiliser wires.
Step 1: Remove the four screws arrowed below...
Step 2: Remove the big screw arrowed below. Pull the top side edges of the front cover towards you to release the snap catches, then put your hand in the vent hole at the bottom of it, lift it upwards and away from the bike.
Step 3: Connect the alarm power, ground and immobiliser wires. I shortened the loom a lot to do this as you only need about 9" of alarm loom. Locate the big white multiplug in the photo below, and tap the red alarm wire into the red bike wire, and the black alarm wire into the green bike wire. Cut the black and white striped wire (CDi power) and connect the pink and grey alarm wires to it as shown, get them the right way round... the grey wire goes to the part attached to the multiplug, the pink goes to the bit that runs off into the loom.
Step 4: Indicators and remote start. Firstly, find the orange wire in the alarm loom, fold it over and insulation tape it to itself so it can't short out, you don't need this wire at all. Tap the two yellow alarm wires to the orange and light blue bike wires, these are your indicator lights. Tap your blue alarm wire to the yellow and red wire on the bike, this is your remote start. Finally earth the black alarm wire with a ring on it, either undo the bolt on the rectifier (grey block with fins) and attach the ring to it, or do what I did and cut the ring off then Tap it to any green wire. Green on this bike are always earth wires.
Step 5: Mount the alarm itself. I shoved it down the gap between casing and steering yoke, and for the siren I reached up inside the main front body where the front wheel is and fitted it there, running the wiring back up to the alarm.
Now just refit the front panel and job's a good un!
Just to clarify the wiring:
ALARM BIKE
Black Green
Red Red
Pink Black/white stripe into loom
Grey Black/white stripe into multiplug
Orange Not needed, fold over and tape
Yellow 1 Light blue
Yellow 2 Orange
Blue Yellow/red
Black with ring Bolt to bike frame, or tap to green
An old pm from our good friend JEDI, seems a shame to put his work to waste.
Hope you dont mind me putting it here anyway. |

Nicely done!
Only one thing I wish to add, and it was a hindsight moment... secure the alarm box to the back of the panel you removed. Reason being, the vibration sensor is inside the alarm box so if anyone tries to remove the panel to expose the wiring, they'll trigger the alarm! |

Hello,
I would like to install a alarm system in my new scooter and wanted to find out if this guide is the same for the retros 125?
I am thinking of buying this one from ebay is it any good?

| That guide was written for the baotian QT9, so the looms might be different to the retro 125, that alarm looks good + the seller sends a fitting guide to your specific bike. |

I bought that alarm from that seller, but I didn't get a fitting guide although I supplied the bike details, and now I'm stumped. I've followed your guide but I seem to have a brown wire extra and don't know what it is for so I haven't tried fitting it yet. Any ideas what that brown wire might be? |

Hi Timpo,
I've got the same scoot and am contemplating an alarm. This looks fairly straightforward but I have to ask, did you establish what to do with the brown wire?.........so to speak!!
And on the same note was the wiring all as above? |

Hi Dave
The alarm was very easy to fit in the end. It only took about 30 mins. The brown wire is the same as the orange wire that is mentioned in the guide. Just tape it up out of the way as it's not needed.
I am very happy with alarm and feel much happier to leave it in car parks now that it's fitted. :D
The wiring was exactly the same as above. Just follow the guide and you should be ok. Oh and just so you know, you can buy the snap connectors from wilco motosave or halfords. :D |

Just a quickie, I have the jinlun retro and this alarm, Fitting instructions as follows:
Take off under seat luggage bay, find cdi, look just behind in under the fairing and you will find a plug, plug this into your alarm and connect alarm earth to battery and your ready to go. |

Hi All,
..just wanted to say thanks to all who contributed to this thread especially J£DI and Timpo, it saved me hours of pondering over the rather vague fitting instructions that come with the otherwise excellent alarm!
Once again this site proves invaluable 8) |
